I built this fun DIY dino-mite dinosaur cave for a birthday party, and my sons were able to continue playing with them well beyond the party. They had a great time using them as a fort.
Materials:
Large cardboard box
Lots of old news paper and magazines
2 cans for each cave Rustoleum brown matte spray paint
2 cans of the textured Rustoleum to add into the crevices to make it look more like rocks
Instructions:
- Leave one side of the box from the cave open
- Next crumble up news paper or magazine pages and tape the crumpled up news paper and magazine pages on the cardboard box to form the rocks around the cave.
- Once you have covered the box adequately with crumpled newspaper or magazines, then paint with the textured drylok. Drylok will take about 24 hours to dry.
- Finally spray paint the box with the lighter brown first, and the use the darker brown in the crevices to enhance the rock-like appearance of the cave.
